i made myself a smoothie before
i used chocolate milk as the base but it also had strawberries and blueberries and bananas in it so i think it still technically met the definition of what makes a smoothie a smoothie.

the combination of weird cravings and equally weird aversions have resulted in a more pragmatic approach to these things, obviously ]

and the baby definitely likes hearing your voice way more than mine at this point.
plus my body pillow doesn't hold a candle to you when it comes to couch snuggling

... not that you have to wait until AFTER the baby gets here to start working from home.

money isn't an issue, babe. and they have to work with my schedule, not the other way around, unless they can dig up some other geneticist that's about a century ahead of everything they're doing. even if they could, family comes first. always.

[ As promised, it's only a few minutes later when he's coming through the door with two paper bags, including, of course, the promised cheese puffs, as well as a few other snacks that he knows she likes. He might have cheated a little bit by swinging along some of the back alleys, but that's nothing new. Especially now that he tends to get recognized in a crowd these days, and he doesn't want to get sidetracked by any of that today. ]

I come with an offering.

[ although it could be argued that gwen's expression always lights up this way when presented with snacks, it's clear that right now she only has eyes for poe dameron, eyes filled to the brim with ilovehimilovehimilovehim. she shifts a bit, fully motivated to stand up so she can greet him there, just inside the apartment, because it might not be that far from where she's on the couch, but maybe she's feeling that impatient. however, her shift is more like a wobble before she manages to stand up, hands immediately moving to rest on her hips, in a bit towards her lower back. she's almost gotten used to the constant state of achy she seems to be in, but maybe she's been planted on that couch longer than she thought. so she doesn't move to meet him like she wanted to, instead taking a long moment to stretch her back, even moving her arms up over her head to stretch even more.

and it's seriously fortunate that she has her extra balance, because she's still not used to the weight of carrying a baby, but she's steady on her toes as she lifts for one more big stretch. ]

[ Poe's been making an effort not to coddle her too much, she'll fuss at him is he hovers too much, but it's not an exaggeration to say that he would be there in less time than it takes to blink if she ever does tip over a little too far, even if she's entirely likely to catch herself just as easily. He's allowed to be protective, isn't he? But this time it just slows her down from the usual bounce that would have launched her into his arms, giving him the time to set aside the bag in favor of having two unhindered arms to wrap around her by the time he's gotten to her. Greeting her with an enthusiastic warm kiss has been the standard for a while now, but maybe there's something even deeper to it lately. It was inevitable that he would have a staggering amount of feelings over their baby, but even knowing that didn't really prepare him for this.

And every day it feels like they're all bonded even more closely, despite said baby having a fairly limited amount of input. Still big enough to constitute a distinct presence now though, rather than the more nebulous existence while she was barely showing, and there weren't any actual pictures to dwell over with an amount of joy that he'd never quite understood before.

But it's not just about the baby. The way he lets that kiss linger is just for the two of them, just for a moment at least. ]

[ Alright, he's frequently guilty of flirting shamelessly, but he's being serious this time. ]

[ honestly, a good amount of gwen's confidence that she actually is ready for the baby's eventual arrival is due to the fact that poe's so openly becoming more and more enthusiastic about it every single day. because it might've been one thing to share enthusiasm over trying to make a baby, it was a whole other set of emotions that came along with that positive pregnancy test. and while she never doubted for even a millisecond that poe would be an incredible father, there's no denying that the closer they get to her due date, the more warm and supportive and nurturing he's become. somehow. he's always been warm and supportive of her, but this is a whole new level. a far cry from the energy he carried when he first dropped into her world.

and it's true, it's become all too easy to develop a whole new set of feelings for the baby, to pair with what she already feels for poe. and while he's pouring an extra bit of affection into the way he kisses and holds her, she's giving it right back. as if she's loving him for two. of course she knows, logically, that the baby isn't actually actively adding any amount of anything towards her feelings either way, but she's sure they must feel all the love poe's been giving them.

they? him? her? who knows. does it even matter, really? gwen and poe are already obsessed with them.

so he kisses her in that way that makes her melt, keeps his arms around her tight enough that she has to tip her head back to look at him properly, and then follows it up with that. she whispers, as if what she's about to say is very]

Honestly, I'm just reaping the benefits of the little one's glow-up. [ she lifts to give him another peck on the cheek, but it's obvious she doesn't plan on putting any space between them in the immediate future ] It's all a ruse. They're using me to win you over.
